Simultaneous interpretation
Do you know the difference between simultaneous and consecutive interpretation? The former focuses on immediately translating what the speak says during a business meeting, either live or virtually. This modality requires high levels of concentration and experience to avoid errors that could even completely change the meaning of what the speaker is saying, leading to chaos and confusion.
Consecutive translation
The consecutive interpreter, on the other hand, translates a part of the speach when the speaker pauses during business meetings. This modality requires high levels of memory to not forget any important detail, thus delivering all of the relevant information.
It’s important to highlight that the art of interpretation goes beyond translating words because the interpreter must take into account the style and tone of voice used by the speaker, as well as be able to understand sarcasm and typical jokes to transmit the message to the audience in an effective manner.
